In May - We Must Unite

Wizard World Chicago

Posted August 9th, 2007 by jeff in News

Just wanted to dash off a quick note to let all of our threes of fans know that Matthew, Kent and I will be roving around the floor at Wizard World Chicago for the next three days if anybody is out that way. Give us a holler if you are out that way!

Joey & Hiroko Are Going to Kill LA

Posted June 7th, 2007 by Matthew in News, Rants

Hey all,

Do I not write enough? Well, that’s probably true. I just got back from London, I was going to write a piece on it…but damn it all I’ve just been too slammed with real life. However, I did want to jump on and let you know about something really cool for our two favorite ninja instructors.

Out of the blue about a month ago, I got an email from a professor at USC saying that she wanted to use one of our short films at a panel she was hosting. The flick?

Joey & Hiroko: Lesson 27 - Hide in Plain Sight. This episode has been chosen to be shown at the Pixelodeon festival in LA as part of Dr. Patricia Lange’s presentation on Physical Importance in the Vlogosphere (or as I like to call the Vlogosphere - the Weblos). Pretty crazy huh? I never would’ve thought that them fancy Doctor types would dig our stuff. Thanks Dr. Lange and everybody at Pixelodeon for enjoying the episodes and screening it at the conference!!

Actually, I think it’s more likely that Joey & Hiroko simply learned of the conference, found it a good way to “train” a large number of people, and threatened Dr. Lange from the shadows to screen the episode. Yeah…that sounds more right.

So, if you’re in LA this weekend…well…get the hell out of LA. Seriously, why would you be there? And whatever you do, don’t attend this conference. Unless you like living in fear that your life may be ended by ninjas at any moment. Your call.

Oh, one last thing. In the “look at how much g14 is trying to look like we won at Cannes” category, we did get some spiffy graphics from the show to promote the fact that yes, indeed, we are awesome. Check it:

Fancy Badge

That’s right. Now it’s like…we’ve got laurels.

Some New Stuff

Posted April 24th, 2007 by Matthew in News

Hey all,

So, wanted to take a minute and talk a little bit about things that I have hinted at in previous blog entries. I’m trying to take Gavin’s advice from the Jeff and Toaster piece and follow through. So, without further ado, here is some of the cool stuff on the horizon:

1. If you’re in the Philly area of the country on June 17th, you might just want to buy a ticket for Wizard World Philly. g14 has been invited to present a kick ass panel on how we do things as part of the Wizard World School on Sunday. Wicked yeah? Now we just have to figure out what it is we’re going to present.

2. In the next couple of weeks, the vlog is going to undergo a little facelift. Nothing major, just an awesome little intro to tie everything together and make it more like an actual show. Does that mean ongoing characters and subtle plot developments amidst an interweaving storyline? Hah. Hell no. It just means all the random funny stuff we come up will now have a very professional looking bow on it. We have the very awesome Bronson Hoover and his dnb studios to thank for the intro. In fact, it looks so awesome, we may have to step up our game on the vlog and actually light some of the shoots now. But probably not.

3. Last but not least in the slightest is the secret new project that we are working on. I can tell you a few things about it:
-It’s a big departure from everything we’ve been doing on the vlog.
-The cast we’ve put together for it is incredible.
-It’s an ongoing internet series character drama.
-We’ve shot some of the first footage for it, and it looks very nice.
-It’s called…hah. I’m not going to tell you right now.
-We may premiere an episode at Wizard World Philly.

Exciting stuff! And here’s a pic from our first shoot:

That’s me being nice to Jeff. He’s recovering quite nicely, with very minimal scarring.
