Class Project!
Posted March 5th, 2008 by jeff in VideosKent was required to produce an instructional video for his college. This video had to be edited entirely in-camera with no fancy editing, special effects or pre-produced music. We asked our old friend Ken Kennerton (Suicide Solutions) to come out and help. Needless to say, wackiness ensues.
Formats available: Quicktime (.mov)
Music Credits: “Idea One Dash One” by Big Hoss via PodsafeAudio.

Matthew- your gleeful expression in that freeze frame brings me great joy.
Asher- your impending pain in that freeze frame brings me great joy.

OMG that was hilarious. Matthew, Ken frightens me. But he’s really f*ng funny! :) Good jorb everyone!

I think some of the pauses were a little too long in there. And the transitions seemed awkward.
But that Ken Kennerton, wow that guy is funny. “Hey idiot, HIGH FIVE!”

i’m a bit saddened that some of it has been lost due to its small size… like the fact that it also says “arnal socks” on the dry-erase board behind ken kennerton and on the chart behind the “crew” (actually that chart had all sorts of goodies on it)
plus we also can’t see some of the delightfully funny things jeff is mouthing in that scene… oh well it still makes me giggle quite a bit… off to spam it everywhere!

Yay for the A, I forgot how awesome our ending scene was, it its basically amazingtron. Good job Kent, and Matthew your Ken Kennerton character keeps getting more sarcastic, fantastic! Yay.

Cassandra said I had to post (or she’d stop being my friend). An interesting technique to get more comments. Since she is now a man… I’m even more scared.
March 5th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
and you didn’t even post ABOUT the video! you suck! (thanks for calling me out)
March 5th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
But I did post about the video (how else would I have known you were a man…?) I learned not to high five if you are a shite carpenter, but still have questions about drilling a door leaning up against a wall when a dude with a tie stops by to wave (that bit throws me).
March 5th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
yeah…about that… IT WAS MUTHA F-ing HILARIOUS! :)

who can’t edit in-camera?? some of the greatest works of the 20th century, including some which are lost forever, were edited with that technique. some of those same works laid the foundation for what has become g14 productions. how do you like them apples?
good job, anyway.
can i just add that according to my sources, sun cracked vinyl turns ten years old this year!
March 5th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
The credits were probably my favorite part of all that- with Ken’s little shimmy going on.
Definitely a little bit awkward but it gave it its charm! I’m glad you got an A!
So where is the video Mr. Kennerton debuted in? I don’t think I’ve seen it.

Lisa, Kenneth Kennerton’s first appearance was “Suicide Solutions”, which can be found here: http://g14productions.com/blog/2007/03/14/suicide-solutions/. Enjoy!
Colleen- I don’t know who you are, but I actually tried to follow your link to a website, even though I saw it said “N/A”. Dare to dream! Welcome!

Wasn’t Ken Kennerton’s first appearance in Internet TV? I’d look for myself, but I have way too little interest to follow up… if someone could do that for me, that’d be great.

Well, there’s a fine distinction I guess. Ken Kennerton’s first credited appearance was “Suicide Solutions”. He did appear a week earlier in “How to Watch Internet TV”, but was not named. Check it out anyway, it won us money!

I rather liked the credits. Cassnadra did a good job at keeping straight face for most of it.
Jeff has that scary happy look when he shakes “John’s” hand a little too well down.
Really funny….I’m thinking of use the Ken Kennerton style of talking in my next lecutre to students.
Cheers

The credits were quite good. I would have liked to see Ken Kennerton give the audience the finger as he counted off what we learned in this instructional video. Balz that is some mad long hair…

Ray, Ken’s rates are very reasonable for guest lectures. I’m just saying.
Matthew
March 6th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I viewed Ken’s previous appearances with g14.
I really think… no, I believe that Ken should teach Sex Ed to middle schoolers.
It could be his next instructional video.
March 6th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Ray- his rates are especially reasonable if you’ll pay for transportation and accommodations.
Gavin- why would Ken flip off his many adoring fans? Hasn’t your baby mellowed you out at all?
Lisa- I. LOVE. THAT. IDEA. Hmmmmm….
March 6th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Ken teaching Sex Ed is a great idea. Lisa be sure to ask for an Associate Producer credit should those videos ever happen.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
You right, I should! I need more film credits.
Gets me that much closer to ‘rich and famous.’
March 7th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
hey everyone i like the feedback, ill start writing the script now.
and it will not be edited in camera, and not suck
anyideas you want in the script
the storyboard will be great you can count on that.

Everyone wants to see how to not cox block your friends by Ken K.
March 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
am i not loving, kent?
